Blog #7: Working from Examples and Setting Goals

Both sample papers are very different, but both papers are very organized. The sample papers provided me with a great example of how to format a research paper. Going forward with my draft I know I have to organize the arrangement of my paragraphs, which will help my paper flow together. I also learned the placement of quotes is a big factor in presenting your claim. Adding a quote in the beginning of the paragraph is not a good idea, because it has no thoughts to back it up. Giving the reader information at the beginning of the paragraph, and following with a resource helps support a claim. It also prevents the reader from getting confused, and prevent the writer from adding random information. My goal to complete my final draft of my research paper is to work on my paper consistently. My plan is work on my paper at least five times a week. I do not want to procrastinate, and plan on taking advantage of tutors. Having good time management will be a good way for me to develop an A or B paper. I am also going to take everyone’s feedback as a tool to help me reconstruct my paper. Overall, the sample papers were good visual examples of what an A papers looks like, which helped me accumulate a writing plan.
